Water bills to rise $200-plus in Seabrook

SEABROOK — The town will increase its water rates for the first time in four years, despite objections from a handful of voters.

Selectmen voted Dec. 21 to accept the recommendations of a study performed by the Abrahams Group of Framingham, Mass., to convert the water department’s current flat rate billing system of $60 per year for up to 60,000 gallons to a flow-based system.

Central Basin Approves Forward Thinking Water Use Efficiency Master Plan

The Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors adopted a new five year Water Use Efficiency Master Plan (WUE) at its November meeting. The WUE is designed to save 32,443 acre-feet of water through a variety of cost-effective programs and measures as well as an estimated $23 million in water purchases over the life of the program, which ends in 2016.
